Happier More Often
Happier More Often
It seems everyone has a remedy for being happier yet many people still feel unhappy. Perhaps this website will offer some help.
Our premise is that it is easier to choose to be happier more often than it is to choose to be happy all the time. Our society distrusts people that are too happy. We bond faster with people who are unhappy and complaining. The last time you were in a room with strangers, what did someone say that got people talking to each other and, maybe, even laughing?
We bet it was something like this:
The weather is horrible today isn’t it?
The [name of sports team] really didn’t do well last night did they? I think the coach should be fired!
The bus was late again!
I don’t know what goes on in a teenager’s mind. But I do know that if I wasn’t there to wake him up in the morning my son would be forever late!
My daughter is 14 going on 21!
Can you believe was the boss asked us to do the other day?
Why do we bother to pay politicians at all?
Did you hear the one about how many lawyers it takes to screw in a light bulb?
The list can go on and on. Now imagine if you walked into the room all bright eyed and bushy tailed. What would people be thinking about this happy stranger? Perhaps something like: “I wonder if she is on drugs?” or “What does he have to be so happy about?”
People mistrust happy people until they get to know them. Once that happens, you can visibly see people become happier just by being around someone they trust who is happy. You could be that happier person for other people.
This website provides you with a free copy of the book Choosing to Be Happier....More Often. That is the secret -- right there in the title. Just to choose to be happier now than you would be if you didn’t make the conscious choice to be happier. That’s it. Nothing fancy. Just choose to be a bit happier now than you would normally be.
We hope you find the book helpful enough that you pass along our website to others. Perhaps, over time, we will see happier people around us. If we start by choosing to be happier more often, then it is inevitable that the people around us will too.
What’s the secret to being happy?
